Hi,
If you can't find satisfactory Win 8 drivers, you could try this...it usually worked on the BETA versions.
You need to do this...There are at least two HP installers and possibly a Windows Installer that have to be modified.
I was able to get the printer to work by uninstalling and reinstalling the software....BUT.
I found for this to work, you need to go to
Control Panel...Devices and Printers...Right Click the Printer, and REMOVE it from the system.
Then uninstall and reinstall the software.
Also, be sure to set the Compatibility Mode of the installer to Win 7 or before. XP SP3 seems to be a good universal selection.
IMPORTANT.....
You should be able to get the Original Installation software to work if it is fairly recent
If your drivers won't install due to an error message ...not the correct OS, you may have to EXTRACT the installer to a FOLDER, like a .zip file. You will need a program like WinZip, WinRar, 7Zip, or similar to do this.
VERY IMPORTANT....
After extracting, if necessary, set the Compatibility Mode of the Setup file and any other application on the CD or in the folder. There are usually At Least Three Installers for a HP Printer. Then double the Setup to install..
