did you follow the instructions from Smittychat?

Have you ensured your system is clean?

Avg is notorious for messing up windows, but run scans and ensure nothing is found

    Hi, Meo,

Have you installed Service Pack 3?

Start > Right click on Computer

Under System you will see which service pack you have installed

Go to Start and type CMD

    Press Enter

    Type sfc /scannow

    Press Enter

Note:  There is a space between sfc and /scannow

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833

Press Windows Key + R to open Run box

    Type devmgmt.msc

Click the + next to Sound, Video and game controllers

Right click on the driver and select Uninstall

    Close device manager

Reboot computer and Windows will reload the driver

    Retry media player

If all fails, uninstall WMP, reboot your computer and reinstall WMP 11

    need more information please:

    1. any error messages?
    2. look in Event Viewer(start, control panel, administrative tools, Event Viewer), for any errors in the time frame if the issue.

Click Start, Run and in the box enter:

    msinfo32

Click OK, and when the System Summary info appears, click Edit, Select All (Ctrl-A), Copy (Ctrl-C) and then paste (Ctrl-V) the information back here in your next reply.

4, What is your current antivirus?
