Get BSOD Driver_IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal when connected to Wifi Hotspot from Google Nexus 4

Hi,

I'm currently using Windows 7 64-Bit Professional on a Lenovo T430s 2352CTO laptop.  I experience consistent and frequent BSOD with DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL soon after opening a browser (FireFox or IE) while connected to my WiFi Hotspot from my Google Nexus 4 (LG E960).  In fact, not using a browser only accelerates the problem-- the BSOD appears even if I do not open a browser.

I have not had this happen in the past with other devices including a BlackBerry 9900 and a Samsung Galaxy SII LTE on Gingerbread OS. I have also made sure that I have downloaded all Windows updates and Thinkpad's Update utility.  I also have uninstalled the old driver to my Intel Centrino N-2200 wireless network card and reinstalled the newest driver from Intel's website.

I have uploaded a BlueScreenViewer dump, and pasted the same dump here in case it doesn't work:

Thank you for your help, and I appreciate it greatly.  I really hate to rush, but I will need to know as soon as possible if it is indeed the Nexus 4 that is causing a problem that cannot be resolved, in order to return the device with in the 15-day grace period.  I received the device two days ago.

I also apologize ahead of time because I am not very good with computers.

It may help to look at the minidump files from the crashes with a debugger.

Can you zip up the minidump files in the C:\Windows\Minidump folder and make available (provide link) via Windows Live SkyDrive or similar site?

The following link has information on using Windows Live SkyDrive:

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproui/thread/4fc10639-02db-4665-993a-08d865088d65

If you have problems zipping the minidump files copy the minidump files to another location such as a folder on the Desktop

Also, you do not necessarily have to zip up the minidump files, you can upload them one at a time.

I can replicate the above BSOD using a Sony Vaio (Win7 SP1 64-bit version) trying to connect to a portable HotSpot created by Sony Xperia TX mobile phone running ICS.  The problem resolves itself if I choose USB tethering (i.e. connect the phone via USB, and then tether it).

The point of commonality would appear to be:

    • Phone using ICS mobile to generate a Wi-Fi hotspot
    • Wireless is Intel using Netwsw00 version 15.3.1.2

My guess is that the ICS created hotspot creates a conflict in the IRQs.  As a sidenote, this does not occur with Honeycomb tablet that I also use to create a Wi-Fi hotspot.

In conclusion, I have a workaround, but not a direct solution.  It would be great if there's an update somewhere that can be applied to resolve this.

My device is using Android 4.2.1, which I believe is JellyBean. I'm not very familiar with Android though.

    1. What do you refer when you say “downloaded Thinkpad's Update utility”?

What I mean is that my laptop manufacturer, Lenovo, has its own proprietary Drivers and Updates software for my specific model. It's very much like the Windows Updates, but it's just Lenovo's version of it.

    1. Which service pack have you installed on your computer?

Microsoft Windows 7 64-Bit Professional Service Pack 1

    1. Were changes made to your computer prior to this issue?

No recent changes were made to my computer prior to this issue.

I will try out the recommended steps you have explained in your troubleshooting tips. I will report back if there are any findings.
