    Hello phantom411,

Another interesting application worth taking a look at with regards to quickening up the boot process of your PC is Soluto http://download.cnet.com/Soluto/3000-18512_4-75446583.html

I used this in its early beta and it did make a difference. It helps by delaying certain startup processes, thus you boot to the desktop quicker and then solute continues to allow windows apps to load as normal while you are getting on with something else.

I'm not sure what you mean by a "pc cleaner," but if you mean a
registry cleaner or one of the programs that advertise themselves as
fixing everything that's wrong and making your computer faster, they
are all terrible, and nothing but snake oil. I strongly recommend
that you avoid them all like the plague.

On the other hand, CCleaner (if that's all you mean) is an excellent
program, as long as you refrain from using its registry cleaning
functionality. It will save you some disk space as it removes unneeded
files, but do not expect it to make your computer faster.

    Hello Phantom411,

PC Cleaners are debatable. There are many users who say that they don't make any difference; while others rave about them.

Personally I use the free version of CCleaner  ( http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner )which removes temporary internet files, history and a host of other rubbish.

Slowing down of the PC can be caused by numerous things, including programs that start when the PC is booted See this link for details of improving performance: http://www.pcworld.com/article/129009/article.html

Defragmenting the hard drive can also increase performance, especially if it hasn't been defragmented for a long time.
