If you have a Alt Gr on the right side of the Space Bar, try holding down that key and pressing the number 2.
Let us know what you find.

Does anyone have a clue as to how to access the AT sign which one uses in emails and which is here on my French keyboard but which I simply cannot get it to work. My language is English but the keyboard is French and the At sign is shared with the number 2 at the top of the keyboard

I have not done it as I don't have French keyboard, but I believe that you should be able to configure to use the keyboard as is. From Control Panel, open the Regional settings. There is a keyboard layout selection. You may (probably will) have to "Add" French keyboard first and then select it.
Then you do not have to mentally translate the keys (from the sound of it you have to type "Z" to get a "W" currently? This should still be possible while retaining English as the default language (for spelling etc). At least I think I am right but I admit I have not tried such a hybrid setup!

Thank you - the ALT Gr and 2 found the @ sign - so simple when you know how but so time wasting when one hasn,t a clue - many thanks to those who took the bother to reply to my question. Getting used to This Windows 8 is not so easy specially with a French keyboard! Cheers and thanks again
HELP IS STILL NEEDED!!
On the "French (France)" keyboard, the @ is located at CTRL-ALT-0 (zero). This can be viewed using the "Clavier Visual" or "Visual Keyboard" in Windows 8.
HOWEVER!! This keystroke is not working in MICROSOFT OFFICE 2010 (Windows 8). But works without a problem here in IE10. Why not in MS Office? How can I get MS Office to treat the full (including the CTRL-ALT-key) keyboard layout as the other programs do, to match the Visual Keyboard? I am in the U.S. with a laptop's built in keyboard.
Thanks,
G.R.
