i cant get my steel series wow mmo mouse to work with windows 8. it says on here that it is compatible but i cant get it work. I've tried everything i can think of any suggestions?

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing as well as running the install in every for of compatibility modes and as admin with no success. I'm assuming i will need to wait for steel series to release an official windows 8 drive but i really don't want to wait I've grown quite accustom to the extra buttons.

I had the same issue . Apparently the drivers are NOT actually being installed by the software . You need to go to the software folder in /Program Files(x86)/Steelseries/World of Warcraft MMO Gaming Mouse/Driver7x64 folder   and run the program DPInst.exe to actually install the correct drivers . Once I did this I had full functionality of the mouse , including the colors and lights settings .

I would still change the  compatibility settings to Run as Administrator though , and changed security settings on all 3 of the mouse programs to allow full access to all users .

      WoWMGui.exe    -  WoWMHid.exe and   WoWMTray.exe

hey you i really appreciate the help! it didn't work for me but i do very much appreciate you taking the time to try to help me. hopefully steelseries will get their drivers in order soon because i have huge hands and the only other good gaming mice out there are the razers and they feel really small to me :-(. again i really am thankful for your effort.

I figured out a work around for this.  Go to Control Panel>Hardware and Sounds>Devices and Printers.  Then scroll down to the mouse that says "World of Warcraft MMO Gaming Mouse".  Double click.  Click on the Hardware tab on the top.  Second option down reads "HID-compliant mouse" > type "mouse and other pointing devices".  Highlight this one and click properties at the bottom.  Next select the driver tab at the top followed by driver details.  There is two different drivers.  I selected C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\mouhid.sys and clicked the ok button at the bottom.  This made my mouse functional again but I can no longer change the colors of the mouse using the steelseries software.  Hope this helps.

    Hi,

Thank you posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are you are facing issues with the mouse.

It looks like the mouse is compatible with Windows 8, please refer to the link.

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compatibility/win8/CompatCenter/ProductDetailsViewer?Type=Hardware&Name=SteelSeries%20World%20of%20Warcraft%20MMO%20Gaming%20Mice&Vendor=SteelSeries&ModelOrVersion=62006&Locale=1033&BreadcrumbPath=World%20Of%20Warcraft%C2%AE%20MMO&tempOsid=win8

There are no drivers for the mouse for Windows 8 in the manufacture’s website, I would suggest you to contact the manufacturer of the mouse to check for the availability of the drivers for Windows 8.
