Error 126: Specified module could not be found

I keep getting the above error whenever my computer starts and tries to launch the software for my Logitech gaming keyboard and headset. It occurs when I try and run the software manually as well. Reinstalling has yielded no results. The closest I can find to an answer is that there is a missing registry sub key (following a solution based on running Windows 7, while I run Windows 8), but this sub key exists in my registry. Can anyone help me out?

    Hi Rhys,

Thank you for your post and giving us an opportunity to assist you.

I see that you get Error 126 on starting the computer.

You can try these methods to check if the issue gets resolved.

Method 1: Restart the Windows Modules Installer service.

a)Press "Windows key + R", type "services.msc" and press Enter.

b)Look for the "Windows Modules Installer" service and Stop it. Then Start the service.

c)Restart the computer and check if the issue get resolved.

**Method 2:**Run a system file checker scan and check if that helps.

Refer to the following steps to run SFC scan.

a)Move the mouse pointer to bottom left of the screen where you see preview of start menu and Right-click to bring up a list of Windows settings.

b)Click on ‘Command Prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated command prompt. Note: Click ‘Yes’ if it prompts for permission.

c)In the command prompt type in the following command: ‘sfc /scannow’.

If a Windows Resource Protection (WRP) file is missing or is corrupted, Windows may not behave as expected. For example, some Windows functions may not work, or Windows may crash. The System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) scans for missing or corrupted system files and repairs them.

Please get back to us with the results of these methods. Feel free to use the forum for any other Windows questions you may have.

I am running the SFC scan as I type this, but the first method suggested - when I tried it, I could not find the service for the program related to my keyboard (a Logitech G15), and this program is the one generating the Error 126 message. I have told it to start the Windows Modules Installer service, and restarted with no difference.

Edit: I have finished the SFC scan, and it found and repaired a corrupted file, however I am still unable to launch the program I need.

    Hi

I ran both methods (1&2) and have a Widows 7 operating system.  No errors reported with the system files check/scan.

Restarted and still get the error 126 message when starting a specific software program.  The message says "LoadLibrary failed with error 126: The specified module could not be found."

    Please Help

I am still having this issue, and unable to figure out any solution short of having to format and reinstall everything.

Which one?  If it was a .dll which contains a  DllRegisterServer entry point it may need to be re-registered.   Etc.
