Original Title: CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME WITH A COPY OR A PLACE WHERE I CAN DOWNLOAD WINDOWS 2000 PROFESSIONAL

1.    Can someone please help me with a copy or place where I can download "Windows 2000 Professional.

2.    My PC came out with the program installed and later on Windows XP Professional SP3 was installed and the two systems functioned very well and without any problems.

3.     Not long ago Windows 2000 Professional could not start because the file “WINNT\System32\CONFIG\Systemced” was missing or corrupt.

4.     The two CD s that came out with the PC are missing and I have search everywhere, turning my storeroom upside down and inside out, but I cannot find them.

5.    I still have the Product Key Number (hoping it will work with the copy) and it is still clearly visible on the Sticker/ Label or rather the “Certificate Of Authenticity” as this was a true copy of Microsoft product.

6.    So please good people help me to re-install this program on my PC so as to let my PC (MY OLD FRIEND) retire with both systems running when Microsoft support come to an end for Windows XP by next year.

7.    I am also a retired person desperate to have this program re-install on my PC and your help will mean a lot to me.

    Hi MB NHLAPHO,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for providing us an opportunity to assist you.

As per the issue description, it looks like you want to download and install Windows 2000 on the computer.

I would like to inform you that Microsoft has ended support for Windows 2000. You can now migrate to Windows 7, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2. You can refer to the link for more details on this information:

Hello, I do understand you problem... I HAD the same I searched and searched for one on the Internet but I found one, if you want you can go to www.winworldpc.com and they have all sorts of old operating systems all from the original MS-DOS to Windows 2000 Professional. I don't really like the people who say "ooh lets go migrate to another frickin operating system!!!". What I did was download this from the "Mirror #1 Germany" which is downloading it from the German server (It's in English) and use a software such as "7-zip" (click the first download) and you can unpack the download. You will find an .iso and a note which say thank you basically. And you would write the .iso to a CD or DVD and after it is done you restart your computer with the CD drive booting first and go from there. I used this .iso myself I had no trouble with it.

      I really hope this works,

    TO Pinaki Mohanty,

    1. Thank you very much for your response to my request under the  topic ,”CAN SOMEONE HELP ME WITH A COPY OR A PLACE     WHERE I CAN DOWNLOAD “WINDOWS 2000 PROFESSIONAL”

    2.  Yes, it is true that I want to re-install Windows 2000 and specifically ”Windows 2000 Professional” on my old computer, which      I call “MY OLD FRIEND”

    3.   I am fully aware of the fact that support for Windows 2000 has been ended by Microsoft back then in 2010.

    4.    My eagerness to re-install this program and especially on this old PC, is not to use it for day-to-day activities, but in a way to restore this computer to its original position. Well, up to so far, my luck is still out.

Hope somehow "MY OLD FRIEND'' will be fixed.

    THANK YOU.

    Signed: MBN.
