Original title : touchpad on my laptop enlarges and shrinks the view seemingly at random. How do I control that?

Sometimes when I swipe my finger across the touchpad to move the curser a magnifying glass icon comes up and my view zooms or shrinks. I don't know what triggers that. This is extremely annoying. I want to know how to control this function

This really didn't help because the touchpad was not listed under devices. then I went into devise manager and selected the touchpad, but there was no choice to change settings there

Meantime, I did finally figure out how to shrink/zoom my email in Firefox - it was under the view menu.

Still would be nice to be able to turn off the mutlitouch gestures though. It  happens in Word and Excel as well and I have to stop work and fix it every time

Thanks. That's what I thought. But when I found mice in control panel and opened it, the dialogue box gave me no options to change settings.

    What am I missing?
