C:\Windows\System32\msxml3.dll

" C:\Windows\System32\msxml3.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support."

note: it also has the title "FacebookUpdate.exe - Bad Image" above the error message.

What does this mean? It pops up every time I start my computer in a little dialogue box. I have never had this problem before until a few days ago. otherwise, my computer always worked fine before that. The annoying thing is it won't let me use or download facebook messenger on my PC. I had it before, and it always worked fine. now, when I tried to open it, it would give me this error message. I uninstalled and reinstalled facebook messenger, but every time I tried to reinstall, it said reinstallation failure due to the error message.

I have tried the microsoft hotfix email and download, but it didn't work. I have tried scanning my computer with mcaffe security. it didn't work either.

I believe the problem is that C:\Windows\System32\msxml3.dll has become corrupted. but every time I try to delete it, it says I can't because the computer is using it.

Please help me fix this annoying problem. thank you in advance!

    to Vijin V

I have the same problem too. Its 2 days that this message is showing up on my laptop:

" C:\Windows\System32\msxml3.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support."

I receive the message on every windows start up and whenever I press the vaio key on the keyboard but the title of the message differs in different situations. At start up the message appears with "vprot.exe - Bad Image" title and when I press the vaio key the title is "vrlp.exe - Bad Image".

I have run the sfc toolbut it did not solve the problem. I have also tried to register the msxml program but when I type "Regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\Msxml.dll" in the cmd and press enter another Error appears on the screen:

    regsvr32

the module "c:\windows\system32\msxml3.dll" failed to load. Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .dll files. The specified module could not be found.

    Here is my system's information:

    Windows 7 home premium 64bit

    mse and nod32 both installed

Steps to perform a SFC scan:
