SCR331 Smart card reader not working

I have windows 8, and I have attempted every possible driver that I have come across to get my smart card reader to work, but it still fails to do its job. Has this piece of equipment become obsolete with the installation of windows 8, or are there drivers available, or drivers that will become available in the very near future to run my cac reader on windows 8?

I am in the same boat. It is just not recognizing. I am in the military and I can't access secure sites for duty, I can only use a military computer. I have CAC install root and active client. I came to this forum while trying to figure out how to update the firmware on this CAC reader.

If "Santhosh S23" works for windows then I suggest they fire him.  If he is just a normal guy trying to help then thanks for trying to help, but the answer was the equivalent of lame IT answers "did you reboot it?"

I found this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZ002-EmTEo somewhat helpful, but it took some trying to get it to work on windows 8.

Trying to install the "FWupdate" as described in the video I got the notice that the DFU process couldn't be killed, but then I waited a minute and tried it again, and it worked.  I don't know why, as I'm not a computer guru, but it seems persistence paid off, and everything appears to be working.

    Hope this helps,

    Greg
