Access denied when try to open files in minidump folder.

original title: trying to open files in minidump folder.

Have been having bsod since december. When I try to open individual files in minidump folder i get message access is denied. In additon there is a padlock icon  on the folder.

    Copy the files to a different location (like your desktop) and try again.

    You need to be logged in as admin

    Right Click the file and select properties

    Select the Security tab.

    Click edit next to "To change permissions. click Edit"

    Click Add

    **Type your username into the box and click Check names.

    Your username should appear in the box in the form of JOHN\john

    Click Ok

    Check all of the boxes under allow.

    Click Advanced

    Click Change next to owner near top if the current owner is not you.

    Repeat from **

    click Ok

    Click Ok on the properties window.

    You should now be able to open the file

    I suspect all the answers in this thread misunderstand the problem.

    Most computers do not have a programme installed that can open dump files. You need a debugger or software like Blue Screen View.
