Windows 7 Internet Explorer Update to Version 10 64 bit

Downloaded and installed from Windows IMPORTANT update INTERNET EXPLORER 10 64 bit.

My PC had Windows 7 64 bit AND WINDOWS 7 32 BIT Internet Explorer 9.

After "Successful" install I no longer have the Windows 7 32 bit.

I nervously did a restore back to original IE 9.

Possibly the new IE 10 covers both 32 bit and 63 bit.  How would I know this?

Any answers would be appreciated.

Internet Explorer 10 contains both 32 and 64 bit versions,

The default, when started, runs the 64 bit version as the base and each tab runs the 32 bit version to allow most add-ins to run.

If you want to run the 64 bit version in all the tabs you must go to tools (Gear in tool bar), internet options

and under the advanced tab, down by Security, check Enable Enhanced Protected Mode.

To go back to 32 bit, you must uncheck this option.

If it's a Win7 64-bit computer, you have two versions of Internet Explorer: IE 32-bit (the default) and IE 64-bit (cannot be the default). Shortcuts to both should be listed in your Start menu. [1]

The executable for IE 32-bit is located here:

         C:**Program Files (x86)**\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

The executable for IE 64-bit is located here:

         C:*Program Files*\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

This is not true for Internet Explorer 10.

    <EDIT>

In Win7 64-bit (and unlike IE9 & IE8), IE10 is a single 64-bit browser but its tabs are 32-bit by default for compatibility with plug-ins. Once you've enable Enhanced Protected Mode, the tabs will be 64-bit by default.

Thanks for your reply.  Does this mean if 32 bit is required = no problem

and if 64 bit required, automatically the 64 bit will run?

On MY PC, after installing IE 10, the install removes the IE 9 32 bit and 64 bit and leaves only the new IE10.
