I have had this computer for a while now but I am just now noticing that it is only using 4GB of ram out of the 8GB it came with. There are 4 sticks of 2GB of ram DDR2. Both came already installed in the computer when purchased. Both work, memory tested said that they are both in working condition. What is going on???
OS: Windows vista home premium 64-bit
Make: HP
Model: 667501
msconfig shows the max memory is 3328
Edit: Was able to open up the computer and needed to change the info on the RAM

Hi,
Welcome to the Microsoft Community. As per the description there is 8GB of RAM (Random-access memory) on the computer but it shows only 4GB.
I will help you with this issue. I would suggest you to follow the steps from the article.
The usable memory may be less than the installed memory on Windows 7-based computers (Applies to Windows Vista)
Hope this helps. Let us know if you need further assistance with Windows related issues. We will be happy to help.
