Cant install Visioneer Onetouch 9320 USB scanner on Windows 8 PC.

I have a new windows 8 pc and it cannot install my Visioneer Onetouch 9320 scanner. I went to the Visioneer web site and followed instructions to download a driver for Windows 8. The driver installed successfully but still would not install scanner. I have tried it many times with the same result. Any suggestions to this problem?

Microsoft support:

Although one can run the Visioneer driver installation program itself under "Windows XP Compatibility mode", it still apparently installs drivers incompatible with Windows 8. So that doesn't work.

Visioneer support:

Your solution is for the customer to abandon a perfectly functional scanner and purchase a new scanner simply because the operating system has been updated. This is like my having to buy a new car because gasoline has been reformulated only to run on only newer cars. This is a prime example of POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Good customer service would be providing a compatible driver for Windows 8 for your customers.

What you have done is ensure that when customers decide to purchase a new scanner, it will NOT be a Visioneer brand.

Hello.

I am a Support Engineer with Visioneer.

The Visioneer OneTouch 9320 do not have a supported Windows 8 Driver.  The only supported drivers are for  Windows XP, 2000, ME, and 98se.  I highly recommend to take advantage of our trade up proccess and find some options on getting a Windows 8 supported scanner.

    Thanks for your support with this problem. I had a similar situation with an HP scanner years ago when I upgraded from Windows 98 to Windows XP. HP did not update the drivers for the scanner. Needless to say I don't buy HP products anymore. It was an expensive scanner at that time.

    Thanks for your information but I could not get it to work in the Windows XP mode. The Visioneer site at  http://support.visioneer.com/KnowledgeBase/Articles/VIS1493%20-%20Updating%20Your%20Scanner%20Driver.asp?ScannerModel=DM3115&bit=32  says that there is a  Windows 8 driver for the 9320 scanner. The driver installed but the PC could not find scanner. I spent a lot of time trying to get this to work to no avail. My work around was to install another Hard drive with Windows XP and to change the boot up when I have to use the scanner. This works well for me as I like this scanner. My only other option would be to purchase a new scanner which probably would not be a Visioneer.

    As per the description, it seems that the Visioneer Onetouch 9320 USB scanner does not work on your Windows 8 computer even after installing its latest drivers.

    The Windows Compatibility Center shows that the device is incompatible with Windows 8. Check this link:

    I also checked the Visioneer website and found that the scanner model that you are using is a very old model and it has been discontinued by the manufacturer. The drivers for this device is available only for Windows XP / 2000 / Me / 98SE. So, it does not seem to work on Windows 8. But, let’s try if the scanner works if the drivers are installed in the Windows XP Compatibility mode.

    I would suggest you to download and save the latest driver for the scanner from this link:

    After saving the driver setup file on the computer, check the article and follow the steps in this link to install the drivers in the Windows XP compatibility mode:
