I have looked on visual effects and on the more tab, but I couldn't find one.

NoteWindows Movie Maker 6.0 from Vista was the last version that included the "Film Age" effects.  The effects included desaturation, flickering, vertical scratches, film grain and other visual artifacts that made your video look older.

In the latest version of Movie Maker, the most you can do is apply a Black & White or Sepia effect as noted previously.  Alternatively you could load WMM 6.0, use it to "age" your video clip, save it as a movie and then make further edits back in the latest Movie Maker.

No need to be so drastic as to uninstall Movie Maker.  As noted above, you can install Windows Movie Maker 6.0; it can co-exist on your system with the version of Movie Maker from Windows Essentials.  Open your footage in WMM 6.0, apply the desired Film Age effect and save that as new footage (File > Publish Movie > To your PC).  Now use that new (or should I say "old") footage in your project as needed.

Remember, you can always suggest additions/improvements to Movie Maker on the feedback pages.

Seriously??  Why would MS do that?  I'm now going to uninstall movie maker and use another software for this effect.  So not impressed.

    Hello,

Thanks for posting your concern. I understand that you want to add an effect on your video to make it look old-fashioned. To better assist you, I would like to gather first more information.

    • What is the exact version of your Movie Maker? To check, press ALT + F in Movie Maker, click About Movie Maker.
    • What is your operating system?

As for the effects, to make it look old-fashioned or vintage you can try setting your filter/visual effects to Black and White or Sepia.

    We'll wait for your response.

    Regards,

    Richard
