Wacom Tablet not functional after waking from sleep mode

I have Windows 8,

dual core 2.8 ghz intel, 8gb ram.

I use a Wacom  Bamboo splash tablet (ctl 471).

I have installed the latest windows 8 drivers from Wacom.

When my computer wakes from sleep mode, the tablet no longer functions.

I have to reboot the computer to get it to work.

This kind of defeats the whole purpose of sleep mode.

Any ideas?

    Hi eingram,

Thank you for choosing Windows 8 and for providing us an opportunity to assist you.

I understand that the tablet will not function after waking from sleep mode. I will try to help you with this.

    1)      Have you made any changes prior to the issue?

    2)      Do you receive any error message/code?

Method 1: I would have you uninstall the drivers and reinstall them.

    a.       Open the Device Manager by Pressing Windows key + R and typing Devmgmt.msc

    b.      Display or touch drivers.

    c.       Please right click and try to uninstall the driver.

    d.      Restart the computer and update.

Run the Hardware troubleshooter and check.

Method 2: Follow the steps to run the troubleshooter:

    a. Press Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the Charms bar.

    b. Type Troubleshooting and click Troubleshooting under Settings.

    c. Now type Hardware Troubleshooter in the search option.

    d. Click on Hardware troubleshooter to run the troubleshooter.

Please post back if you are still experiencing the issue. I will be glad to provide you with the additional options available that you can utilize to get the issue resolved.

Right... I've had the exact same issue here on Windows 10, and I THINK I may have fixed it.

My USB's were simply 'falling asleep' after periods of inactivity. So i figured there must be a reason for this.

I went into Device Manager, and went through all the USB settings and Right-Clicked, and went into their properties panels, then turned off any Power Management that was ticked.

Also, if you're on a laptop like me, going into power settings, and then advanced power settings, there are USB sleeping things in here too, to save battery power.

Unfortunately, these don't work with some devices (my Bluetooth mouse suffered from similar issues with Bluetooth.)

So, disable any power management on the USB's here too. I don't care if I use up more battery, I want my blimmin' tablet to work! :)

Hope this helps others in this situation!

I have the Wacom Intuous III Tablet, and ever since I upgraded to Windows 8, my tablet stops working if I wake the computer from sleep.  I have the latest Wacom drivers.  The above steps did not work.  The blue light on the table is off when the computer wakes from sleep.  I can get the Table to work again if I open Device Manager, and under Human Interface Devices, if I disable, and then enable the Wacom Tablet driver, all is well again.

I am still having the problem with losing my Wacom driver on a sleep or hibernate, but I have discovered that if I unplug the tablet before sleeping or hibernating and wake the computer up and login before I plug the tablet back in, that the driver comes back properly.
