Open IE (desktop) > open 'Google' search page > select 'Tools'' > select "Add site to Start Page'

(You will need to have the 'Menu Bar' displayed.)

You can also access to 'Tools' by pressing 'Alt+T'

My first suggestion required to have "Favourites Bar' displayed

If you open the Google search page in IE Metro, you should remain in the Metro UI and carryout actions as I described.

Try going to your internet Explorer and find Bing, then add Bing to your favorites. Next right click on Bing in your favorites and pin to your start page. Please note that Bing will not interact with Explorer in the same way it did before, how sad! Microsoft needs to add an update to repair this problem. I to liked the features Bing offered from the start page.  I also have encountered the problem of not being able to access outlook from the charm on the start page. The mail charm indicates I have mail but, shows a white screen when I click on it. Now I have to go to outlooks web site to check my mail, again how sad! Does anyone have a solution to the outlook problem?

I'm sorry, but I cannot understand either of your suggestions.  If I go to desktop and open IE, then open Google(for example),  what do you mean by >select "page' ?    Secondly, if I open IE (Metro), then open Google, At that point ,I'm no longer on Metro, I'm on the desktop, and there is no pin icon available. Your continued assistance would be appreciated.

Open IE(desktop) > open 'Google' search page > select "Page' > select "Add site to start page"

    > use same method to pin any site to 'Start'

    or:

Open IE (Metro) > open 'Google' search page > R/click on screen > select the 'Pin' icon > select "Pin to start"
