Microsoft Office Word 2007 freezes when trying to open it

To whom it may concern,

Microsoft word (word 2007) recently stopped working. When I click on Word application, the program gets stuck and does not do open. I cannot open the program or any previous saved documents. I tried to uninstall microsoft office and reinstall it again but the problem remains the same.

Also I am having problems with microsoft powerpoint in my computer. A new document will open, however if I try opening any saved presentations, Power Point stops working. Everything else from Microsoft Office works fine and my computer also works fine other than this.

Any tips on how to fix this problem? Thank you.

Hi Rabeeah,

If you have the Microsoft Office CD, try to uninstalling Microsoft office and Re-Installing it.

Let us know if that works.

Hi,

I was having the problem of MS Word 2007 starting to hang or freeze when opening the program.

I went to Word Options / Addins / Com - Addins and found PDF Architect which I had installed.

I finally was able to close Word and I uninstalled PDF Architect and now Word is working fine.

Check your Addins.

Hello Chethan and Rabeeah

I too have recently experienced issues with Microsoft Office (word 2007), it has been at times freezing when I open it (though a little inconsistent) and it has been freezing every time I close Word. I have run my Microsoft Office CD to uninstall and reinstalling and the issue continue, then I have downloaded and run Microsoft Office 2007 patch 2 again the issue keeps occurring. I have also ensure my system updates are up to date. Could you please help me because I don't know where I should go from here. I purchased my software a little shy from a year ago.

Rabeeah, did you have any luck?? or Chethan could you please advise me what else I should do.

Hope you are doing well. I am still having the same problem with microsoft word. At first the microsoft word was not opening at all but I followed the instructions and the microsoft word new document opens, however if I try to open a saved document it will not open and microsoft word freezes up. Could you please kindly guide me in this regard.

Hi Rabeeah,

There is a possibility of a conflict between any third party application with the Microsoft Office.

You can try to place the computer in Clean boot mode and try to work on Microsoft Office.
