I have managed to get rid of this toolbar from my browser. I can't guarantee that this solves malware problem and removes all modifications that toolbar did to one of PCs I take care at work.

    Steps:

    1. Forget about ASK Toolbar.msi. I doubt it ever existed.
    2. Look for application in C:\Users\support\AppData\Local\Temp called APNStub.exe.

-- if not there choose to install again ask.com toolbar during software installation

This small application is probably used to inject toolbar into browser.

    1. Run it from Windows command console with parameter /tbr /hpr (toolbar remove)

-- we should use here <PartnerID>. I did not find it, but it worked without it. If you find it please share with us. Logs shows strange result, but it removes toolbar from IE.

    [(UTC) 20/06/2013 - 08:25:09:665]: CommandLine = "/tbr"

    [(UTC) 20/06/2013 - 08:25:09:665]: Session exit with code = -1

    1. Remove registry entry (you can find it in one of the previous posts).
    2. Remove directory with ASK.com toolbar files from Program Files.

If you skip step 5 and 6 your browser might become unresponsive.

Let me know if this works for you. Thanks.

Ask actually publish instructions on how to remove their toolbar.

In summary, they say to make sure that ALL browser windows (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.) are closed and then uninstall from the standard Add/Remove programs in Control Panel.

That, as you may have found already, does not always work.

However, they also provide a downloadable tool to do the job, called ToolbarUtilityTool.exe

Toolbar Uninstall and Home Page Reset:

I have not tried it myself but the direct download link is: ToolbarUtilityTool.exe [WARNING: direct exe file download link]

Also, one of Lunarsoft's member's Fred de Vries has co-developed a removal tool: ASK Toolbar Remover

Read about it (and download it) from here: http://autoclean.com...toolbar-remover
