Thanks for responding, Bruce. But, I found a very simple answer in a reply to a similar question in this forum. Since I still have an XP Pro PC, I was able to copy the appropriate files from the Windows XP System 32 folder onto a thumb drive and then put the files in a new folder on my Win 7 PC.

    Here are the file names:

    cards.dll, freecell.exe, sol.exe, mshearts.exe, spider.chm, spider.exe, spider.hlp, and winimine.exe.

Actually, I think cards.dll and sol.exe would have been sufficient, as the other files pertain to other games.

    Thanks again.

    Martin

why the **** should this be such a god-awful sweet jesus project - all I want is a simple solitaire program that used to be on my desktop and came with the windows package - What the f--- - aside from the fact that I a total ludite - am I doing wrong, and where the **** do I find this simple user-friendly dinosaur of a program ... and I suppose I'm quite insane to ever expect any realistic let alone helpful sort of reply - indeed, any relevant reply at all! Upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate, install WinXP Mode, and play Solitaire

    within the Virtual machine.
