Wireless Network has Invalid IP Address Configuration +others?

I'm just going to include a little backstory here so I don't end up answering the same questions over and over.

We'd been having internet issues in my house for a while, and I had always whittled it down to problems on my ISP's end; but we bought a new cable modem (Motorola Surfboard) and router (Cisco Linksys WRT110) anyways, as they both needed updating. Right about that time, I could no longer connect my laptop (Toshiba Satellite C series) through our wireless, although my PS3 and our cell phones could connect without a problem. I gave up on trying to get my computer to connect because my dad's phone was working, and as long as he was happy and not bothering me about the internet, I couldn't care less.

But I recently bought a pre-owned laptop (Toshiba Satellite L775, Windows 7) as it was a relatively inexpensive upgrade and I'm having the same problems. I have to run the diagnostic tool just about every time I try to connect, and it spits out the following error messages at me regularly:

  1. The connection between your access point, router or

cable modem and the Internet is broken.

  1. Windows can't connect to the hidden network "(my network name)".
  2. "Local Area Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration.
  3. "Wireless Network Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration.
  4. A network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken
  5. The default gateway is not available.

Most of the time it doesn't resolve any issues.

I know for a fact that the security settings on my computer match those of the network. The network is not hidden.

I've checked and swapped all the cables between the wall, modem and router, and they all seem to be working fine. I've tried resetting both the modem and router several times, and also turned off the DHCP server on my router and got it to work for just a bit.

If I connect my computer to my router with an ethernet cable then I can connect properly to the network and not have a single problem until it hibernates/shuts off, even if I disconnect the ethernet from my laptop. (As a matter of fact I'm on our wireless now, since I ran through the troubleshooter yet again and connected via ethernet cable.) The LAN/WLAN drivers on my new laptop are brand new as it was a fresh copy of Windows 7 and I had to manually download and install display and network drivers.

I've tried setting up a DMZ for my laptop as well as cmd > ipconfig /release and ipconfid /renew to no avail. I've also skimmed other similar threads on here and tried a myriad of Firewall settings with no results. This is getting kind of old, so any help you guys can throw at me is highly appreciated! Don't hesitate to ask for any other system specs.

    The issue could be caused if there is a miss match in the IP address configuration.

    Follow the method below:

    The easyfix tcp/ip troubleshooter thing made it so much worse. Before, it could at least connect via ethernet, and the wireless issue was simply 'windows has invalid ip address configuration'. Now the additional message mentions a problem with the network adaptor

    To fix this issue:

    RT CLICK ON WINDOWS BUTTON

    LEFT CLICK ON COMMAND PROMPT (ADMIN)

    left CLICK ONE TIME IN COMMAND PROMPT WINDOW

    TYPE IN: NETSH WINSOCK RESET

    hit enter

    RESTART COMPUTER

    essentially it resets the tcp protocols that the windows updates can sometimes mess up.  if still not working go back into the command prompt the same way as listed above and type the following:

    IPCONFIG /RELEASE

    hit enter

    IPCONFIG /RENEW

    hit enter

    there ya go, not everything is your isp's fault ;)

    plz make sure you type these exactly because if you miss a space it will not work.

    I'm having this issue too but sometime restart solve the problem some time not working 

    Trying in all the step given did not solve my problem at all 

    I try with lan connection sometime I still getting invalid ip address 

    Usb modem sometime do had this problem too 

    Already formated my laptop work for few days then it occur again
