I have a New Gigabyte A2 "1TB" and a HP DV6-7208TX laptop, when I plug the external hard drive on 2.0 port it works perfectly but when I plug it on 3.0 ports it doesn't work it keeps connecting and disconnecting...I tried to connect the hard drive to another laptop to a USB 2.0 port and it work. My USB ports are working properly I tried to connect a USB flash drive on 3.0 ports and 2.0 port it works perfectly. What is the problem? the Laptop which is still new? the hard drive? or the OS? PLS. HELP ME :(

Chris, did changing the power settings help you at all?  I just built a new computer and am getting the same error message when using the 3.0 ports on the front of the computer.  But the ones on the back of the computer work fine...

    Hi,

You can try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for those USB ports and check.

Follow these steps to uninstall the USB Controller Driver.

    a.      Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager.

    b.      Search for USB Controller Driverand **** expand it.

    c.       Right click on the drivers one after the other and select Uninstall.

    d.      Now restart the computer to reinstall all those drivers.

Do let us know about the results.

    Hi,

The information which you have given says that all the USB ports in the computer are working fine. So I would suggest you to try connecting the external hard drive to some other computer using the 3.0 port and then check.

I would also suggest you to go through the article and follow the steps given.

What if a device isn't installed properly?
