I tried to download pictures from my Nokia Windows phone to the Laptop via Bluetooth and cable but nothing wants to connect.   I downloaded pictures last week without problem but do not know what happened between then and now?

Lets start with the USB cable connection.

What operating system is on the PC? We need to get the phone drivers installed.  Turn your phone off and connect it to the PC via USB cable. If drivers load, let them, takes some time.

The phone should contain five folders when viewed in windows explorer.  What do you see?

Bluetooth -  You go to share on a picture and select bluetooth, the list pops up, is the laptop listed?  Tap the laptop name, What happens?

I had this same problem with windows 8 pro yoga laptop and nokia 920 phone.  Other blog posts suggested turning off the firewall and unistalling the sdk.  I tried that on my laptop and desktop but it did not work.

Turning off the phone then plugging it in did work.  Thanks garym123!

Great !

I don't know what it is but some machines have more trouble that others when it comes to recognising the phone. Glad it worked for you !

This topic is old but, I had a similar issue. Turns out, it was the USB cable, used a different one and it connected.

This is complete BS>>>>  Ive installed the stupid apps on win8 and bluetooth pair.  But cant get the stupid computer to see/open the connection to my Nokia 8 phone.  I can play music through bluetooth which is stupid since my laptop speakers suck balls.  I will never attempt to send a video to my laptop via bluetooth...   I wont live that long to see the end.   WINDOWS YOU FING SUCK ONCE AGAIN WITH 8 or 8.1......    curse you.
