What I did was quite ingenious, after searching the web for countless hours i came up with this genius solution that works perfectly to connect on startup

    • Make a file named autodial.bat
    • Right click and select edit
    • Put the following inside it: rasdial connectionname username password

-connectionname = the connection you want to autoconnect

-username = your username for this network

-password = your password for this network

      * for example rasdial fluffyconnection fluffy fluff123

-next copy this file into the following directory

    C:\Users*Yourusername*\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

*appdata is a hidden folder, so enable hidden folders to access it.

Rreally hope this helps you with your problem as it did solve mine :)

    Hi,

Please answer these questions so that we can diagnose the issue correctly.

**1.**Do you connect to a different network each time you access the internet?

    **2.**Is it a wireless connection?

    **3.**Is it on a laptop?

**4.**Did you make any changes to the computer prior to this issue?

    Here’s what you can try:

If it is a wireless connection, just select the option: automatically connect on the wireless setting.

Refer to these links given below:

    Connect to the Internethttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/connect-to-the-internet

Refer to this section: Connect using broadband.

    Why can't I connect to the Internet?http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows-8/cant-connect-to-internet

Please get back to us with the results.

If you have any further questions regarding Windows operating systems, please get back us on this forum. We are happy to assist.

    Hello,

I use a laptop to connect to a single network, ADSL, not wireless.

I didn'f make any changes to the laptop.

I created a shortcut of my network connection, i put it on my startup and nothing happened.

Of course I select the option that keeps the password completed and the network used by anyone. I have a single user created on the laptop.

    Hi,

You may use Windows Credential Manager allows you to store credentials.

Credential Manager allows you to store credentials, such as user names and passwords that you use to log on to websites or other computers on a network. By storing your credentials, Windows can automatically log you on to websites or other computers. Credentials are saved in special folders on your computer calledvaults. Windows and programs (such as web browsers) can securely give the credentials in the vaults to other computers and websites.

To add a password to your Windows vault, refer to the following steps:

    1. Press Windows Key + X and select Control Panel, clicking User Accounts and Family Safety (or clicking User Accounts, if you are connected to a network domain), and then clicking User Accounts.
    2. In the left pane, click Manage your credentials.
    3. Click Add a Windows credential.
    4. In the Internet or network address box, type the name of the computer on the network that you want to access. This can be the NetBIOS name (example: server1) or DNS name (example: server1.fabrikam.com).
    5. In the User name and Password boxes, type the user name and password that you use for that computer or website, and then click OK.

Connect to a wireless network without a password

If your router supports Windows Connect Now (WCN) or Wi Fi Protected Setup (WPS), you can connect to your wireless network without entering a password. Here’s how:

Step 1: From the Start screen, swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and tap or click
Settings.

(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, then click
Settings.)
Step 2: Tap or click the wireless network icon
.
Step 3: Tap or click the network you want to connect to, then tap or click
Connect.
Step 4: Press the Wi Fi Protected Setup (WPS) button on the router. The router will automatically set up Windows to connect to the
network and apply the network's security settings (you won’t be prompted for a wireless network password).

    Hello,

I am trying to find out the same information as the OP of this thread, so, to clear the the query up:

We (me and the OP) have a working PPPOE connection, meaning that the username and password are correct and can connect to the internet, so no need in troubleshooting that problem, because there is none.

We just need to find out if there is a option in windows 8.1 **to connect the "Dial-up connection" (PPPOE) automatically when windows logs on without clicking on Connect.**Taking into consideration that the credentials were stored/saved in that dail-up connection.

Windows 7 did offer that option and I cant imagine why an evolved OS, like Win 8, cant have this option.
