    Below solution worked for me

    1.       Open Device manager

    2.       Right click on Bluetooth driver and click on update

    3.       Click on “Browse my computer for driver software”

    4.       Click on “Let me pick from a list of driver in my computer”

    5.       Un check “Show compatible hardware” checkbox

    6.       Select Cambridge silicon Radio Ltd

    7.       Select “Generic Bluetooth radio”

    8.       Click next

    9.       Click finish

Thank you, this solved my problem for my HP Pavilion laptop, Win 8, Ralink Bluetooth PCIe Adpater driver problem.  I search everywhere and this was the only website that fixed my problem.   Mr. Fix-it did not resolve this issue nor did uninstalling the driver, restarting my laptop and re-installing, nor did updating the driver.  This was the only solution.

You don't need the Ralink the driver for windows 8. It knows how to take care of itself. So first thing you do is to remove Ralink driver software package using Add or Remove Programs function in the Control Panel. Next go to device manager (search Charm for device manager, under Settings), under the bluetooth section, remove the driver for the Bluetooth card, then uninstall it from the computer. Restart the computer, or click "Scan for hardware change" so Windows can recognize the Bluetooth card, then it will proceed with installing the generic driver. After it's done, you should see "Generic Bluetooth Adapter" and "Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator" under Bluetooth section.

You're good to go. Now search charm for device. Under settings there is "Add a Bluetooth Device", click on that, you should be able to add and use Bluetooth as normal.

I have HP DV7 4130 with Ralink Motorola BC4 bluetooth adapter. When I  upgrade (via clean install) to Windows 8, my Bluetooth adapter works  fine - I can connect to a Bluetooth wireless headset or to a phone. Adapter works with default windows 8 drivers. Notebook was discoverable from phone and vice versa.

My friend has exactly this same notebook upgraded to Windows 8, but her bluetooth doesn't work. So I tried to find a solution and installed a few drivers on my laptop... and my  Bluetooth won't connect anymore.

When i revert to  Windows 7, everything works fine. So I formatted the drive and made a clean installation of Windows 8. Bluetooth still does not work.

This is very strange for me. From my point of view, this adapter works with Windows 8 with default system drivers - at least it worked once with a clean system install. But some circumstances make it so it doesn't work anymore. Notebook is not discoverable from phone and vice verse.

    Hi Ahmed,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forums.

From your Description I understand that you are facing issues using Ralink Motorola BC4 Bluetooth + HS Adapter to connect to Bluetooth devices. I would like to inform you that the adapter is compatible with Windows 8. Refer to the link below which proves the compatibility of the adapter with Windows 8.

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compatibility/win8/CompatCenter/ProductDetailsViewer?Name=Ralink%20Motorola%20BC4%20Bluetooth%2BHS%20Adapter&vendor=Motorola&Locale=1033&ModelOrVersion=3&BreadCrumbPath=Motorola%20BC4%20Bluetooth%203.0&Type=Software&tempOsid=win8

Please answer the following questions for better understanding of the issue:

    1) What were the changes made to the system prior to the issue?

    2) What is the error code\message you receive when you try to connect any Bluetooth device?

    3) What exactly happens when you try to connect Bluetooth Devices?

I would recommend you to perform the following methods and check if it resolves the issue:

Method 1: Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter:

    a. Press Windows key + W to search Settings.

    b. Type “Troubleshoot” without quotes and click on Troubleshooting in the results displayed on the left side of the screen.

    c. In the new window, click “Hardware and Sound”.

    d. In the list of options, click on “Hardware and Devices”.

    e. Click “Next” and follow the on-screen instructions.

Method 2: If the issue persists, I would suggest you to try the steps in the article and check if it helps.

If none of the above mentioned methods resolve the issue, I would suggest you to perform method 4.

Method 3: Uninstall and re-install the drivers in compatibility mode:

You may try to install the latest driver for Bluetooth device from the manufacturer website. If there are no drivers available for Windows 8 then you may try installing the drivers in compatibility mode and check if it works:

    Step 1: Uninstall the drivers:

    a) Press Windows key + X key when you are at desktop.

    b) Select Device Manager.

    c) Find and double-click Display Adapters from the left panel to uninstall

    a. Open the link: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&softwareitem=ob-83079-1 and click download.

    b. Right click on downloaded driver setup file.

    c. Click on Properties.

    d. Click on Compatibility tab.

    e. Put a check mark on Run this program in compatibility mode for.
