    Hi,

The issue could be caused if currently loaded USB driver has become unstable or corrupt.

I would really appreciate if you could answer the following questions:

    1. Did you check the issue by connecting Lexar jump drive S50 or generic jump drive to a different USB port?
    2. Are you able to use any other USB devices on your computer?
    3. Did you check the device getting recognized in device manager?
    4. What exactly happens when you connect the device to your computer? Do you receive any related error code or message?

    Follow the methods below:

    Method 1:

If your computer is having problems with a recently installed device or other hardware, try using the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter to fix the problem. It checks for common issues and makes sure that any new device or hardware attached to your computer was installed correctly by following the steps in the link below.

Tips for solving problems with USB devices:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-vista/tips-for-solving-problems-with-usb-devices

    Method 2:

****You may also check in device manager if the device is listed there.

    a. Connect the device to the computer.

    b. To open device manager, type devmgmt.msc in start search box and hit Enter.

    c. Check if the device drive is listed.

    d. In device manager, expand the device listed in the device list.

    e. If the device is listed, right click on it and click Properties.

    f. In General, under device status check for the message. Post back if there is any error message.

I was on the phone with Lexar Tech Support ( over 30 minutes) and we did the process in Device Manager several times with several choices with the same outcome. He suggested I go to Microsoft website for an update concerning drivers.   I looked and couldn't find anything that seemed to fit the problem. that's why I posted the question.

    to answer your questions:

    1. No, but I can.- However,I used the same USB port that I always use when downloading photos from my camera & downloading files to an external harddrive because I knew that port worked. 2. 2. Yes. that's same USB port I use for camera and ext hd drive.
    2. Yes with the Lexar Tech Support person on the phone
    3. it asks to locate & install driver . I say to install, it starts install process, then tells me install fails because " operation requires an interactive station window".

I tried Device Management process again with same result & same error message.

I have purchased 2 jump/flash drives for storage.  Hoping someone can help. thanks
