    Hi Jose,

A serial port is a connection port that uses pin based connections to connect an external device such as a printer or monitor to a computer. If you have a device that still uses serial port connections you will need to add a PCI serial port to your PC.

Let us know if you need any assistance on the issue and we'll be glad to assist you.

It is a legacy connection device that predates USB. Most computers had at least one along with a Parallel (LPT) port.

On the back plate you may a connector which is the same physical size as a VGA socket but has 9 connectors instead of the VGAs 15 although some motherboards only had a header on the board itself and did not have the external connection.

The motherboards web site should have the required drivers or in many cases the BIOS would have the option to disable the serial (COM) port

Because some computers without serial port, or serial number is limited,

If you want to use more serial port devices,

PCI serial port will enable you to easily add RS232, RS422, RS485 serial ports to your PC or server.

    hope it help.
