Icons on desktop changed to pdf format

All the icons on my desktop like opera, google chrome, km player,gom player etc. changed to pdf format and when i try to open any of these  a pop up appears stating that adobe reader cann't open .exe files. So, i uninstalled adobe reader and everything returns to normal . But i am unable to open any pdf documents, so i installed adobe reader again and the previous problem returns...Please help and suggest any solution.

Hi,

I would suggest you to follow the steps provided and check if it helps.

Method 1: When you run an .exe file on a Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7-based computer, the file may start a different program.
