I'm having the same problem. I tried to download vcredist_x64.exe but ran into the same issue.

I am having trouble installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x64). I keep also getting an error that prevents it from completing. I have just bought this laptop yesterday. It says it was built for windows 10 and it also came preinstalled on it. When I tried to run the fixit application, I was told that my system did not support it. I don't know what to do next since I've tried everything that was stated in the forums.

    Hi

I had a very similar problem, but i fixed it.

Go to this link http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26347 and download the vcredist_x64.EXE file.

    I hope that helps.

I've encountered this issue many times. It seems to occur at random. Using a VM checkpoint, I can run the install, and it hangs at zero seconds forever. Revert to the checkpoint and now it succeeds no problem. As such this should be considered as a bug in Windows or Windows Installer.
