My HP Laser jet P2055dn printer prints itself following message automatically every 2-3 minutes intervals. I have never given any instruction to print out this message and even I do not know how it was created. Can you please help me to stop it happening?  This printer is directly connected to my PC (not in network)

The printing message on the paper is;

GET/DevMgmt/DiscoveryTree.xml HTTP/1.1

Host: 127.0.0.1:8080

    You need to disable Printer Status Notification. Click on Printer Properties/ Device Settings/ Installable Options/ Printer Status Notification and set to disabled.

    As it was suggested in my reply of April 30 above.

    Hi,

    I realise that I am replying to an old post but thought it might be useful for anyone else experiencing this issue.

    You need to disable Printer Status Notification. Click on Printer Properties/ Device Settings/ Installable Options/ Printer Status Notification and set to disabled.

    This will stop the printer from periodically printing it's status. I have no idea why this option exists as I can't see why anyone would consider this desirable behaviour.

    Regards,

    Nelson.

    It can't be malware if the printer itself is performing the function and I've never heard of any malware that prints something when it runs.

    Or... Could it be malware-related? See this other recently opened thread from the OP.

    The "dn" following the model number means that the device contains a duplexing unit and is network-aware.  The IP address 127.0.0.1 is a special IP address meaning "myself"; i.e., the local host.  Your PC is 127.0.0.1 to itself and the printer is 127.0.0.1 to itself.  What the message indicates is that something, maybe the printer itself, is trying to discover other machines on the local betwork.  You should be able to enter the admin function of the printer through its front panel and disable the network portion. since you say the printer is connected directly (via USB, perhaps?) to your PC.
