I Can't switch between AMD graphic card and intel HD in probook 4540s in windows 8

hi i have a HP probook 4540s (cpu: core i5 3210m, graphic: amd 7650m, 2 gig, hard: 640 gig ). in windows 7 professional i installed only amd's graphic driver and the system could switch between amd graphic card and intel hd.

but in the gpu-z test software the frequency was 300 MHz and memory frequency was 180 MHz (the standard frequency for 7650 is 500 MHz ). then i install windows 8 pro to test the graphic card With the hope that its frequency will be 500. i install ONLY amd graphic card but the windows can't switch between amd and intel hd (i realized that from gpu-z , unigine heaven and resolution options of some games(intel hd only supports 1024*768 and 1366*768)).

so, my question: how can i switch between intel hd and amd graphic card in windows 8 (with the The theory frequncy (500 MHz))

    Hi,

Did you download the driver from the manufacturer’s website?

Let’s try these steps and check.

I would suggest you may try updating the latest graphic card drivers and check. Visit the manufacturer’s website and install the drivers.

Method 1: Download the available drivers in compatibility mode and check.

    a. Right click on the driver setup file and select “Properties”.

    b. Select “Compatibility” Tab.

    c. Make a check mark next to Run this program in “Compatibility mode” and select previous version of Windows supported by the software, from the drop down list.

    d. Then click on “Apply” and “Ok” option.

    e. Then install the driver.

    f. Then restart your computer and check how it works.

Method 2: Install optional updates and check.

    a. At the Start screen, type Windows Update.

    b. Click or tap Settings on the right side of the screen, and then select Install optional updates from the left results.

    c. When the Windows Update control panel opens, click on “Check for Updates” on the top left corner to receive a fresh list of updates.

Please post back if you are still experiencing the issue. I will be glad to provide you with the additional options available that you can utilize to get the issue resolved.

    Hi,

I also have a 4540s, and thought I had just read about this somewhere, and here it is from page #29 of the "REFERENCE" manual...

"Switchable graphics allow you to switch between Performance mode and Power Saving mode.

Switchable graphics are available only with Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Home Premium, and Windows 7 Home Basic operating systems."

As far as your frequency concerns...

I haven't paid much attention to the laptop, but the AMD HD7770 card on my dekstop runs at a very much reduced speed \ frequency when not under load... and that's on a dekktop...

I would think a laptop would do that even more so... it may be even more restricted on battery.

Try cpu-z while a game is running, or a HD Video or something to get it to kick up to full speed...

I just checked the Catalyst Control Center, and in fact my card is idling even slower than the speeds you mentioned... 150 and 300.

The actual card runs at 1000 and 1125 when needed..
