Network Connections on Control Panel

Running Windows 7.  Want to change a network connection name.  Searched Help for "rename network connection."  A link "Click to open Network Connections" is displayed.  This link works and goes to All Control Panel Items > Network Connections.  However, when I go directly to Control Panel, there is no such item listed, only the Network and Sharing center, which doesn't have an obvious way to display all the available connections, only the one currently in use.  Why is this, and how can I fix it?  Thanks!

If I understand what you're asking about, go to Control Panel, go to the Network and Sharing Center, and click on the link in the left pane to "Change adapter settings."

That ends up in the same place (Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections) that you get to by clicking the link in the Help file.

You can go directly to "Network Connections" by typing "ncpa.cpl" (without quotes) in the Start > Search box and pressing Enter

That's it!  I would never have guessed that the list of network connections would be found under something called Change Adapter Settings.  Thank you so much.

You're welcome, and thanks for the feedback.

Hey, it's Windows; it might have been called Communications Media Center.

Back in XP, this function of Control Panel was called "Network Connections" --

If Control Panel was in "Classic View," you just clicked on the "Network Connections" icon to get this:

You can see the various tools in the left pane (repair, rename, status, change settings).

If your Control Panel was in "CategoryView," you would select "Network and Internet Connections" to get this screen, from which you could then select "Network Connections" --
