Solution is to instal windows 7 service pack 1!!!!
Not in my case it isn't.
Installing in compatibility mode didn't help either.

Hi,
I have just installed Max Payne 2 on my computor with Windows 7 and realised that it is one of my old games which isn't compatible with this operating system! I have surfed around, and it appears that there may be a solution to my challenge
I have tried changing the Compatible Mode to Wndows XP (Service Pack 2) with Administrator Rights, but the game will still not launch!
Can anyone out there give me some advice, as Max Payne is awsome?

Hi BossDweebe,
Thanks for your feedback.
Having had a look at the XP solution, I also got the impression that it wouldn't be an option to start messing about with the installation of XP compatibility.
I tried installing as suggested, i.e. closing after autostart, and starting from Install.exe, clicking XP SP2, and Administrator, but with no change. I also tried installing the game on my External HD, still the same result!
It seems as if the installation goes through the process of a successful installation, and then is missing the proverbial kick up the rear end to launch. I still can't sus it out!
It might be better to wait until May this year, and purchase Max Payne 3.
Thanks again.

I play Max Payne 2 with using Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit version is supported (compatible), I'm just lucky on me!!! But why your Max Payne 2 won't support with Windows 7? My computer can play Max Payne 2......
The all too often suggested XP MODE is for legacy business applications and is not suitable for 3D.
"Windows XP Mode was primarily designed to help businesses move from Windows XP to Windows 7. It isn't optimized for graphic-intensive programs such as 3D games, nor is it well suited for programs with hardware requirements such as TV tuners."
The following may not work either, but the as the game was released in '03 I reckon you can make it work. Installing using compatibility mode has better chance of success than ticking the box after installing
(still a slim chance).
To install in compatibility mode close the install/setup screen after the CD autorun.
Then go to - Start/Computer then R/click on the DVD drive. Now, click Open - and R/click - setup.exe (or whatever the installer is called. It will be an .exe ) - then properties , and set compatibility to XP sp2 in this case . Tick run as administrator as well, just for luck. Now start the install directly from the setup.exe .
In some cases not installing to the default location - Program and Features (x86) - can help . Creating a new folder in the C:\ driver to install game to may help (have not done), but installing games to another partition or HDD is beneficial with some games (verified).
One more option - try using a noCD fix - You can get one from Mega Games (look for PC fixes in the left column of the home page).
btw - is is also pretty useless to contact any game publisher for assistance with any game that old.
Actually it's pretty useless asking for assistance for a game published last week. Community forums like this are all that is available for all things computer. You will very rarely get help from anyone who works for Monopoly$oft, or any other hardware or software mfg. (unless you are a large corporation/company who pays lots of $$$$ for support).

Hi,
You may try to install the game in Windows XP Mode on Windows 7 and check if it helps.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/install-and-use-windows-xp-mode-in-windows-7
(Windows XP mode works on Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate and Enterprise editions only)
If that doesn't work then i would suggest you to contact the game manufacturer for assistance.
