Guest Account Cannot Access Internet

I have Windows 7 Starter.  I turned on the Guest Account so my friends can use my computer without worrying about them getting into my personal files.  However, the internet is not functioning while using the Guest Account.  The Networking/WiFi icon does not appear in the task bar next to the sound icon.  Also, when we open "Network and Sharing Center ", it says "Unavailable " under the "View your active networks. "

Hi,

Guest account is a limited account which allows people to have temporary access to their computer. You won’t be able to install any new hardware, software nor can you configure your wireless connection.

You can create a standard account and limit access through parental controls.

Set up Parental Controls.

FYI Guest account is not available on Windows 7 starter edition, have a look at the link below.

Let us know if this helps

Ok guys I have figured out how to fix this problem:

    1. you go Network and Sharing Center

    1. you go to manage wireless networks
    2. you click on profile types
    3. you check the box that say "Use all-user and pre-user profiles"
    4. and you save it

there you go problem solved your guest accounts can now accesses the Wi-Fi controls.

    Have a nice day,

    Matthew Stevenson

I figured it out.  Do the following:  (In ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT)

    1.  Go to CONTROL PANEL

    2.  NETWORK AND SHARING CENTER

    3.  CHANGE ADAPTER SETTINGS

    4.  Right click, scroll to PROPERTIES of the WIRELESS CONNECTION that ON, (Not the ones that have a red X)

    5.  Click on SHARING Tab

    6.  Check off:  Allow other NETWORK USERS to connect through this computer's internet connection.

    7.  Click on drop down menu and choose WIRELESS NETWORK CONNECTION...In my case it was the Microsoft Wifi Mini-port.

    8.  Hit OK and you're done.

    1. Log off and log into USER ACCOUNT and you will be on the web.

Might take a minute to update.  even if you do not see the WIFI icon on the bottom right, still open your browser.

This worked for me.  Good luck.

Windows 7 Starter DOES allow to set up a Guest Account. And it DOES allow connect to the Internet. Just give the damn answer, which is: configure the internet from another account, and the Guest Account will inherit that configuration in the next session.

And btw, what I need is to allow a Guest Account to configure a Wireless at free will, and not prevent it from connecting to any WIFI available in the area which is not the single one I set up in first place.

But i know you're not gonna answer that, so whatever.

I have the same problem with Windows 7 Home Premium and access via an ethernet cable.

Your answer does not say that Guest account can't access the internet, just that wireless connection can't be configured.

Can the guest account access the internet or not? If so, how do I fix the guest account so that it can access the internet?
