Why is Windows 8 so totally devoid of word definitions and completely the opposite of user friendly?

It basically means that it will compare all the folders in your Mail app with all the folders on outlook.com and see whether it needs to import, delete, or move messages to other folders, and whether or not it needs to add or delete and folders you've created.  It does this automatically also, if you have your mail to import automatically, but if you tell it to only download manually, it will update when you open the app and when you click that button only.  This way you can leave your app open all day, and nothing will come in until you click that button, except for when you first open it.

"Sync" in Windows Mail might be the equivalent to Send and Receive Mail.

Do you have Windows Mail, or Windows Live Mail.  In Windows 8 you should have Windows Live Mail as Windows Mail was an old Vista program.  I don't see any option to "Sync" in Windows Live Mail.

I am telling you what I think it means based on old programs that I have used in the past.  I wanted to know whether your program was  Windows Mail, or Windows Live Mail.  Without feedback all one can do is guess.

It sounds to me that you have an old program and not the latest version, but that can only be a guess on my part until you tell us more.

In other words, you don't know what "snyc" means either.  Thanks for trying.
