How do I install Adobe Flash player on Windows 7 Home Premium on my laptop?

I have been trying for several days now to install Adobe Flash player on my laptop, but to no avail. It will say for me to close the IE explorer tab, and I do so, but this message continues to pop up. I then hold down the CTRL, ALT, DELETE keys to display the Task Manager to see if it is running. When I close the Task Manager, then it continues to down load, but when I try to play games it displays the message I need to down load a flash player. Will someone please help me get to the bottom of this frustrating issue.

You shouldn't get the message to close IE if you followed the steps I listed (because you will have already closed it).

What happens after the download window in step 5 shows 94-96% complete?  It's possible that your antivirus program is interfering with the download.  You might want to temporarily disable your a/v and do the process one more time.

See this --> http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html  From your description, you probably should do Step 1 and then skip down to the bottom ("Still having problems?") and click the appropriate link to download the installer directly.

If that doesn't work, click the bottom link on that page to ask your question in the Adobe forum.

Adobe gets to about 94-96% download complete after I  get message to close IE. Of course the times I closed it  once closed I got a 'retry' message. No matter how many times I retry the same happens.

What exactly happens when you click on that link?

    Here's what should happen:

    1. You see the "Step 1 of 3" screen.  In the middle panel will be an "optional offer."  This may be some McAfee product, Google Chrome and the Google Toolbar, or something else.  UNCHECK all boxes in the middle panel, starting from the lowest box.  Then click the "Install now" button.
    2. Assuming that you're using a recent version of Internet Explorer, you should see a popup at the bottom of your screen that says "Do you want to run or save" the installer.  Make a note of the file name and click Save.
    3. Click the next popup to open the download location
    4. Close Internet Explorer
    5. Double click on the file that you downloaded and respond to the prompts.  You should see a small Adobe Flash Player Installer window showing downloading progress (the first thing you downloaded was only a "helper").

    6. When the download is complete, installation will automatically start.  When installation is complete, click the "Finish" button and IE should open with a "Thank you" page.

Where does your system diverge from the above process?
