Asus PCE-AC66 Wireless Network adapter - Device cannot start code 10.

Hello. I am hoping someone can help.

I have recently installed a Asus PCE-AC66 Wireless Network adapter in my system and get an error message `The device cannot start - code 10'.

I have installed the driver and utilities that came with the adapter, with no joy. Subsequently I downloaded the lastest drivers from the Asus website and installed these, still no joy.

I am using an i5 processor on an Asus P7P55D MD with 8 gig of Ram running Windows 7 64 bit. The Windows OS is on a SSD C: drive and everything else including the `Users' folder on a Raid 0 D: drive.

I would be grateful for advise on how to resolve this issue.

Hi Shabs,

The Code 10 error code is generated when Device Manager has insufficient information or the error that is bubbled up by the device drivers is not recognized by Device Manager.

I would suggest you to follow the steps provided and update us on the status of the issue.

Method 1: Description of Code 10-related errors that Device Manager generates in Windows-based computers:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943104

Method 2:

If the issue persists then try to uninstall and reinstall the network adapter drivers.

Follow these steps:

a. Open Device Manager.

b. Expand “Network adapters”.

c. Right-click the connection and click “Uninstall”.

d. Follow the on-screen instructions.

e. Restart the computer, if prompted.

Drivers should get installed automatically after restarting the computer.

You may also download and install the latest version of network adapter drivers from the manufacturer’s website.

    Hi Adam,

Thank you for replying with the status.

Perform System Restore to an earlier point when the computer worked fine.

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/What-is-System-Restore

System Restore can return your system files to a point in time before you noticed a problem, without affecting documents, photos, or other personal files. If System Restore doesn't fix the problem, you can undo the restore operation and choose another restore point.

I am facing the exact same issue, only on a Asus P8Z77-V LK motherboard. I have performed the steps above but still haven't solved the problem.

I too used a raid 0 configuration, but switched back to not using raid configurations when the Asus PCE-AC66 wireless network card didn't work. After switching back to a non-raid setup, the issue was stille there.
