    Hi Jonathan,

Please follow the methods and check if it works fine.

    Method 1:

Let’s check if you are able to perform system restore from safe mode.

    Refer to the links

Start your computer in safe mode

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-hk/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7

    System Restore

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows7/products/features/system-restore

If it works fine in safe mode, perform clean boot.

    Refer to the link:

How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135/en-us

NOTE: After troubleshooting, revert the computer to start as usual (Refer to “How to reset the computer to start as usual after clean boot troubleshooting” from the link mentioned above)

    Method 2:

Follow the steps to check if Volume Shadow Copy service is started.

    a.      Press Windows key + R

    b.      In the run box, type services.msc and press enter.

    c.       Right click in if Volume Shadow Copy service and click on start.

    d.      Click on OK.
