Remote assistance is working,If i send invitation file from Xp computer to Windows 7/8 PC, but if try just offer remote assistance using "Advance connection option for help desk" in windows 7/8 by typing Xp computer name or IP, i get this error: http://patrickhoban.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/ra-error1.png?w=595

P.S. permissions i have, computer turned on, with network everything is ok, firewall in WinXp is turned off.

Maybe somebody know, where is the problem?

    Hello,

I have Windows XP Professional edition.

With remote desktop connection everything is all right. I can remotely connect to computer with Windows XP, i just cannot offer remote assistance to it, from computer with Windows 7 or 8. Although, remote assistance from Windows 7 and 8 is working, if send remote assistance invitation file from computer with WinXp.

Problem is that i cannot offer Remote Assistance from Win7 or 8, by typing WinXp computer name or IP address.

    Hello Martynas,

    -   Which edition of Windows XP do you have?

Group Policy is available only in Windows XP Professional edition.

Remote Desktop is not available in Windows XP Home Edition and is available only in Windows XP professional edition.

    Hi Sathish,

Thanks for your help, but your solutions is not working:

    1. There is no such a thing (in my test computer with Windows XP Group policy) like Offer Remote Assistance policy option. Is it possible, that windows Xp, just not supporting remote assistance offer option from Windows 7 or Windows 8, and remote assistance only working with Windows XP, when you send remote assistance invitation file?
    2. Turning off Simple File Sharing also not helped. :/

    Hello Martynas,

This issue can occur if either of the following conditions is true.

    -   The Expert that is offering Remote Assistance does not have the proper permissions on the Novice's computer.

    -   The machine that is being OFFERED remote assistance has Simple File Sharing Enabled.

I would suggest you to perform the troubleshooting steps from the link “Permission Denied Error When You Are Using Offer Remote Assistance” and check if you can connect.
