AVG search on toolbar - How to remove it?

I installed AVG Free Edition some time ago and then uninstalled it when a funny bug attached itself to the program. Uninstalling it got rid of the bug.

But AVG Secure Search is still sticking grimly to the toolbar as the default search, though I don't recall ever making it the default.

Now I need to know how I can uninstall the AVG search bar.

AVG does not appear in the Control Panel > Uninstall a Program box. I have Windows 7 32-bit and I.E. 8, about to upgrade to 9.

I don't suppose there is any harm in leaving it there, but I'd rather remove it since I don't use it.

Any help here would be much appreciated.

AVG Security Toolbar and AVG Secure Search (created by the makers of AVG Anti-virus) are optional add-ons when installing their product if you choose "Customized" install instead of "Express". Since most folks choose an Express install they most likely are not aware these options are also being installed.

However, AVG Security Toolbar and AVG Secure Search are also commonly bundled with other software and installation is optional. Many users overlook that option since it is pre-checked by default and they unknowingly install it.

    Leon Russel,

    Thanks for the prompt response.

Following your link, I clicked on AVG Remover (32-bit) 2013. Now I know this is a dumb question, but I'm not sure how to proceed. Should I 'run' or 'save' the file first, or does it not really matter?
