My PC crashed while on Windows 8 Pro earlier in the week, and loading the Win Recovery environment takes ages to click on a particular option. Infact upon booting normally, the PC Blue Screens again and the same crash process starts all over again. Now I loaded the Windows 8 set up and the PC freezes at "Setup is starting" I attempted the setup thrice without any sucess. I launched CMD prompt and ran chkdsk C: /r /d /c and the error message I get is that CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives. I don't know what other options to try. I'm a computer enthusiast and any method you guys give me to try would br really appreciated.

    The disk has probably failed.

You could try using diskpart at the command prompt in case it is just the partitioning which is damaged. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300415/en-gb . The clean option should be used after selecting the relevant disk.

Hey, I'm aware my HDD might have some flaw, but all I want is a quick solution so that I may be able to recover some data from my drive. It's not the best time to incur costs in purchasing a new drive. Any solutions to that?

A RAW drive would be an indication that the drive has failed

Your hard drive maker will have a free bootable disk checking utility
