When i try to print from my photo library to my printer the image comes out at very low resolution. There is nothing wong with the printer - if I use another program to print the results are perfect. How do i change the resolution settings within Window 7?

    Hello Robin,

Though some applications allow you to change print settings (as well as screen settings), print quality is usually a function of the printer properties. Go to Control Panel, select Devices and Printers, and then select the printer(s) in question. Right-click on the printer, and select Properties, then look for the print quality or DPI settings page to change your printers default resolution. Once the resolution has been increased, Windows will print at the new default setting.

Let me know if this fixes the issue for you.

    Regards,

    Hi BearPup

    Afraid not.

    I'm using a Canon Mx300 printer.

I think its a Windows setting as if I use another photo editing program, the pictures print perfectly.

There is no resolution adjustment on the printer except Standard, high and Custom and Ive tried all the settings with the same result. Seems as though the 'message' to the printer is set at 72dpi and no amount of manipulation of the printer settings will alter the original 'message'.

I can print a colour pdf file from an email or from a folder at full resolution, is just jpg images where I have a problem.

    This might be a clue!

My computer is an LG All in one with I5 processor and a touch screen. Ive disabled the touch screen as I was finding that at night during the summer, bugs would be attracted to the screen and suddenly I'd see a drop down menu appear as if the compuet had a mind of its own. I surmised that the bugs had activated the touch screen in a random fashion and it was after I disabled the touch screen facility did the problems occur. Prior to that everything printed as it should. So it was either the bug attack or disabling the touch facility that caused the problem.

    Any further suggestions?

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium.

    Regards

    Robin

    Hi Robin!

I'm a hobbyist photographer and I'm familiar with the issue that you have. This is a setting that you need to change on the pictures itself. You need a program like Adobe Photoshop to change the dpi from 75 to 300. Look for the properties of the picture itself.

    Good luck!

    Hi Stefan

Do I have to change resolution on every picture individually? Why is it that when I use a different program all my pictures print perfectly?

Ive been advised to use a different program but thats like having a puncture on a car and fixing it by sell the car!

Any advise will be much appreciated.

    Regards

    Robin

    Hello Robin,

I'm not sure what to tell you. When I click on the print function my HP printer dialog box shows up and I can change print resolution at will. This is an admitted long shot, but try this autofix from Fix It: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/printing_problems/ .

Let me know if this fixes the issue for you.
