Original Title: Windows 7 Ultimate SP 1 and the internet

Hi,

I have a problem. My Windows 7 Ultimate computer has decided to start plying with my internet connections.  All used to work correctly but last week, using chrome it started to refuse connections to the web site producing an error 'ERR_TUNNEL_CONNECTION_FAILED ( when trying to connect to https://www.google.com ) and saying Your requested URL was not found when connecting to things like www.solitaire.com.  I also use windows Live Mail 2012 and that, although connecting without a problem to gmail will not connect to the Microsoft mail servers reporting error id 0x80072EF3.  There are also some sites that are supposed to connect direct that now do not. This seems to be something that has changed somewhere in the network software although checking parental controls, which are not set, show no blocked web sites.  I am writing this on the same computer but using a virtual box Linux ( Centos ) distro so I know that there is nothing physically wrong with the hardware.  I would be grateful for any thoughts as to how to solve this problem. Many thanks. Tony

    Hi Tony,

To troubleshoot the issue further, we need to first check if you are facing similar issue when you try to access website using Internet Explorer browser.

If the issue is confined to Google chrome browser, I would suggest you to post your question on Google Chrome forums:

If you are facing similar issues with Internet Explorer then there might be some issues with the settings on Internet Explorer.

Could you please let us know whether you are facing similar issue when you try to access other websites?

I would suggest you to disable Internet Explorer proxy setting and check.

Follow the steps to disable proxy:

    a. Open Internet Explorer.

    b. Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.

    c.  Click the Connections tab, and then click LAN settings.

    d. Uncheck the box which says Use a Proxy Server for your LAN.

    e.  Click on OK.

    Please reply with the results.

For the issue related to Windows Live Mail, I would suggest you to post your questions on the following forums.

    Hope it helps.

    Hi Yaqub,

Many thanks for your prompt answer which solved all the problems.  I do not know what could have changed the setting as IE is not a browser that I use, and this setting of 'use a proxy server' seems to affect everything.  How ever I will search for what could have done that another day - I am just grateful to you for pointing out the source of the problem - many thanks!!!

    Tony

    I have a similar problem -

Getting the following when trying to access Google  or Youtube or it seems most sites staring with or connected to google.

    Error code: ERR_TUNNEL_CONNECTION_FAILED

All my computers are behaving the same - could I have a ISA issue or could it be a ISP problem

Other sites like Bing - msn - facebook - twitter - ebay - linkedin are fine
