DistributedCOM Error 10016

Anonymous

Hi, I was looking through Event Viewer and stumbled across two of these DistributedCOM error messages. So I looked it up online and it seems that it is usually a server based problem so what I don't understand is how it is happening on my PC which is not on a domain, not running a server OS nor is a server. The error log is below. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi Joe,

I understand that you are getting an error “DistributedCOM 10016” in the event viewer logs.

    1. Do you face any issues on the computer?
    2. Have you made any recent changes to the computer?

This problem may occur if either of the following conditions is true:

    • A program with the class ID (CLSID) that appears in the message tries to start the COM component by using the DCOM infrastructure. However, the user does not have the required permissions to start the COM component.

    • The Network Service account does not have the correct permissions.

Event logs are special files that record significant events on your computer, such as when a user logs on to the computer or when a program encounters an error. Whenever these types of events occur, Windows records the event in an event log that you can read by using Event Viewer. Advanced users might find the details in event logs helpful when troubleshooting problems with Windows and other programs.

If you do not have any issues with app or any other program I would suggest you to ignore it.

Keep us posted if you face any issues related to Windows in future. We will be glad to help you.

    @Karthik

This is really really a bad answer!

If you google this even you see tons of people are having this problem just by installing a clean Windows10!!!

How can you say to ignore a error in a clean installation. If this is to be ignored then it should not show in the log to begin with.I really dont like it when people working for support simply ignore the problems until they get out of hand.

Obviously some errors dont cause the pc to crash and burn but its not to say they should be ignored.

Any how i will say how the problem or can be fixed (i did not find the solution but allot of googling and testing did the trick):

If this was intended for windows 10 it need to be revisited as the steps are not doable and will not save. There is no way to follow the steps with the pictures and text provided. Far to vague with current information.

Interesting you say to ignore it, yet someone called me claiming to be from Windows tech support wanting to remote into my system to fix Errors listed under "Administrative Events", which I never allow and when I asked the supervisor to send me the fix or post a Service Pack they hung up on me, very suspicious if it was you, also I had told them I have never had a call from Microsoft at which the supervisor responded oh we are not Microsoft, we are Windows...Excuse me but Windows is MICROSOFT! Seems all my Distributed COM errors began when I upgraded from Win 7 Professional to Win 10 Pro.
