Original title: about windows xp3 product key
i have a dell desktop for my roomate it has wxp3 when i was downloading things he wanted on it i dont remember seeing anything about if i dont register in 30 days windows shut down well it shut down i cant even get in safe mode to system recovery etc. when i go online after entering the password up comes a message that i have to windows product activate do you want to yes or no i click on yes then up comes another spot saying that the windows product activation is on x on ok to exit then nothing happen it keeps comming up i chatted on line on my pc with micro tech he says i had to purchase windowsxp os to get product key is there anything else i might do to get this working again i did do a system restore in safe mode back to april 23rd nothing happens or am i have to purchase this wxpos on money i cant spare ty for any help maryanne

Did you contact Dell for the product key?
Usually the product key sticker is sticked to the tower that OEM(Original equipment manufacturer) provides to the customer.
If nothing works out, you may have to contact the Microsoft Customer support to provide you a new product key
hi yes i called dell but sid i needed the key and it wason the tower but the guy we got this from did not have it i gave the tower back to him to fix it ty vm anyway oh i called microsoft too they wanted me to purchase wxp os to get a key not worth it to me ty maryanne

hi kevin tyvm for info . im stuck cant activate it in safe mode and i cant get in after signing in keeps comming up the 2 messages one says i have to the other one says i already am never leaves the sign in page i cant beleive i did this to my self frusrating ok im going to call dell for a product key no it supose to have 25 letters or words cant find that anyplace either. so i can have a key to give microsoft when i contact them it was a viral agent lol but i watched the vidio and it was good . regards maryanne

Please follow the instructions given in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307890 to activate the copy of Windows.
If this doesn't help, get in touch with the Customer Support agent and ask them to activate it for you.
