    Hi,

Here is advice from HP Community Forums.

    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Web-Printing-Software/My-printer-is-offline-how-do-I-get-it-back-on-line/td-p/917549

Click on Start > go to Control Panel > choose Printers > Right Click on your printer and make sure that there is no check mark on the “Use Printer Offline” option.  This should put your printer back online.

As a worst scenario, uninstall then reinstall your Printer using the Drivers and information at this HP website.

Put in your Printer Model number there for that information and troubleshooting steps for it.

    Cheers.

I had the same problem. ' had a windows 7 laptop, it went out, so we got a new windows 8 laptop which wldnt work with ny officejet 6500 so we had to buy a new officejet 6700 in order to go with windows 8. We had 3 groups of geek squads come out try to fix it, tried a dozen times remotely, nothin.g cld be done, we finally come to the conclusion if you are going to print something you have to wake it up out of the sleep mode, so we go turn it on, or sometimes turn it off and back on, then it works, so far windows 8 stinks!! why screw up a good thing?????
