    Hi

Right click the tile on the Start Screen and select the Open File Location option on the bottom toolbar.

File Explorer will open with the file selected. Right click that file and select the Send To/Desktop (create shortcut) option.

This will place a shortcut for the app on the Desktop.

Note: This only works for Desktop apps, not for the Modern UI apps.

    Regards

You can install Start8 and ModernMix from Stardock. http://www.stardock.com/ . This will give you a start button and Menu, allow you to run apps from the desktop and resize windows, as well as boot to desktop if this is what you want. These programs have a 30 day free trial and are priced very reasonable at less than $10.00 US, for both.  Hope this helps and if you need any further assistance post and we will be glad to help you.
