This has been bothering me for some time and Microsoft in their infinite wisdom says it is not an issue even though I have seen many complaints

I am using windows 7 and a 6000 keyboard setup

THE LEFT ALT KEY IS INTERMITTENT

You know when you hit alt+tab or ctrl-alt delete and for over 20 yrs I have been using the left alt to do this.

Not the left alt does not work all the time, ONLY WITH VISTA AND ABOVE!

WHILE CODING I MAY CHANGE WINDOWS OR IT MAY PUT IN A TAB CHARACTER!

YOU KNOW I TYPE WITH TWO HANDS TO I HOLD ALT+CTRL ON THE LEFT SIDE AND PRESS DEL WITH MY RIGHT HAND.

I DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK

PLEASE HELP I AM TIRED OF SCREWING UP MY CODE BECAUSE OF THIS BUG!

BTW MS CLOSED THIS DUE TO THE FACT THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT US AND CAN NEVER DUPLICATE ANYTHING EVER

The I installed the Microsoft mouse and keyboard center and it started happening again

I unstalled the Microsoft mouse and keyboard center and it is working right

I did and after being on hold for a long time the rude person in the Philippines transferred me to technical support which immediately hung up on me.

This is pretty much what I expected.

Time to look at another brand i guess, MS does not want my business.

Called back only 1 hour so far with callbacks, transfers and hold times they transferred me again to the wrong department which put me on hold

15 Minutes later I explained the issue again and the person said they are the wrong department and transferred me to hold again I have to plug in my phone it has been 75 minutes

    CHALLENGE ACCEPTED

Lets see if I can get any help before they close for the week after

another hold I explained it to someone again and they said they are the wrong department and they needed to transfer me again.

On hold again only 90 minutes into it.

The phone ran and there was something in french and it hung up on me.

I called back again and this time after 10 min of hold I was in panama I

I just asked for the supervisor. I don't expect much.

Up to 110 minutes on hold again but still in panama, i think?

well after another 20 min of hold time the phone hung up.

called back 10 min hold so far. I am in the Philippines again.

I wonder if I get double miles?

well the supervisor picked up and it was not the supervisor it was the parts department

On hold again. I wonder what country I am in. I think it is north america

20 more minutes still on hold.

Well after another 40 minutes it was 7 pm and several hours on hold

and this boys and girls is why you never call Microsoft

Ok so the issue seems to be more prevalent then I thought it was with no help from those above.

if you have this problem it is one of the applications running that is causing this.

this is completely random but actually works

change focus to another app and try again

reduce all all apps that are running and click on background

    give it a try

    if your PC is locked

click on the background a few times until it works

and sometimes you may have to "crtl-alt del"  a few times till it works and unlocks the login screen

Otherwise this issue can be closed, I have had another user reproduce it on vista with a completely different wireless keyboard, same keyboard works fine on xp

Have you tried a different keyboard? Different port? I've actually never heard of this problem before (doesn't mean that it isn't real...I've just never heard of it being a glitch within Windows).

Edit - please note that this is not Microsoft, just a bunch of volunteers trying to help people out.
