If Windows 7 was preinstalled by the PC maker then they will already have activated it. Go to
Control panel, System - the line above Product ID should give you the activation status - what does it say there?
You should make a note of the Product Key - that's the key that you enter if you have to re-activate for any reason. The
Product Key is on the Certificate of Authenticity [CoA]. The
CoA label will either be on the bottom of the PC or hidden within the battery compartment. The CoA will also state the Edition of Windows 7 that the Product Key applies to - in your case, it will say Windows 7 Starter [it might also have "OA" after
the name but that is not significant].
Not helpful. I have all that info and still Windows will not accept my key. My computer was fine until I made the mistake of upgrading to windows 10. After one year trying to use my machine with no success, I couldn't go back to Windows 7. Tried Ubuntu,
but didn't like it. So after Ubuntu, I could re-install Windows 7, however, it will not accept my product key. I have to say - I have never had any problems with my apple products. Once you pay for it, you can use it. I have paid for all my OS so it is really
frustrating to waste so much time trying to solve a problem created by YOU. If my machine was not up to the task of running win 10, your scanning app should have alerted me. Instead, I got the go ahead and now I haven't been able to use it for over a year.
Unreal.
